Synopsis Pierre leads the Noetic Society Parmenides study group through another session on Plato's Ion . We use mostly the Balboa translation , although we occasionally refer to the Loeb (Lamb), Rouse, and Taylor. For more study questions, check out the 2 recent previous sessions on the Ion, Sunday 5/17 and Saturday 5/23 . For a full list of Ion-related items in our archive, try this search . (Today's title a bit misleading, as "Understanding" does not have a knowledge that goes with...

Synopsis Pierre leads the Noetic Society Parmenides study group through another session on the 1st hypothesis, which we have been studying lately. Stephanus pages 139b-d (Parmenides/Aristoteles exchanges P1-041,042,048,049,050). (The numbering of the ‘exchanges’ of Parmenides and Aristotle come from our own Juan and Maria Balboa translation , jas-formatted edition.) It turns out this thing is understandable. At least in places. Once you know (or are getting closer to knowing) the kind of...

Synopsis Even though this is typically a Parmenides or Elements-of-Theology meeting scheduled at this time, Pierre wanted to continue on with Homer's Iliad . Specifically, Zeus' role is considered and his divine plan, and how anger is resolved in both gods and humans. (This is again a Jitsi-meet, during the coronavirus isolation..)
